A Night For Oisin, Vanessa, Xuluprophet, And The Community That Loves Them

There are some things I still do not know how to write about cleanly.
Grief is one of them.
Not because I am short on words. Anybody who knows me knows that is not usually my problem. It is because certain losses do not fit inside language. Certain people become part of the architecture of your life, and when they leave, it does not feel like a person is missing. It feels like a wall, a roof beam, a load-bearing piece of the house has been pulled out, and everybody who loves them is standing there trying to figure out how the room still stands.
Oisin “OceanMan” Daly is that kind of person.
To some people, he is a guitarist. To some, a bassist. To some, a producer, engineer, DJ, sound man, friend, husband, collaborator, problem solver, quiet genius, weird Irish wizard, or the guy in the back of the room making sure everything sounds better than it has any right to sound.
To me, he is my brother, my bandmate, my musical soulmate, and one of the main architects of Xuluprophet.

Why This Tribute Exists

​On July 10th, 2026, we gather at Victory North in Savannah, Georgia for Any Port In A Storm: Xuluprophet’s Tribute to Oisin Daly.
The event runs from 3–11. Doors open at 3. Music starts at 5. Tickets are $20. This is a fundraiser for Vanessa Daly, and the purpose is simple: honor Oisin properly, gather the people who love him, and raise real support for the woman he loves.
This night is not a random benefit lineup. It is not a pile of bands thrown on a flyer because everybody wants to do something. The heart of this night is Xuluprophet honoring one of our own.
Xuluprophet is still the house. Oisin is still in the foundation. The music still carries him through the room.

Oisin and I start building this thing together in 2013. Two hard-headed, strange, music-possessed men from opposite sides of the ocean somehow find each other in Savannah and start making noise.
I bring the South Bronx, North Carolina, the grit, the voice, the stories, the scars, and the survival engine. Oisin brings Ireland, the blues, the ears, the engineering mind, the bass and guitar instincts, the patience, the weirdness, and that deep musical architecture that can take a rough idea and give it bones.
That is the chemistry.
That is the foundation.
That is Xuluprophet.
Oisin is not just someone who plays in the band. He helps shape the damn sound. He writes, arranges, records, mixes, plays, produces, corrects, argues, laughs, experiments, and keeps building. His fingerprints are on the songs, the recordings, the live sound, the arrangements, the gear choices, the strange turns, the dub edits, the bass lines, the guitar textures, and the whole weird machine we keep dragging through this world.

The Tribute Set

On July 10th, Xuluprophet performs in a special tribute format centered on that world. The core of the night is the songs, sound, friendship, and creative language that Xulu Jones and Oisin Daly carry through Xuluprophet.

The Flow Of The Night

The night is built to move like a gathering, not a machine. It begins with people arriving, settling in, seeing the art, entering the raffle, writing memories for Oisin’s family, and feeling the room come together before the music starts.

3 PM: Doors Open

The doors open at 3 PM. This gives people time to arrive early, connect, support the raffle, see the visual pieces, and be part of the community space before the music begins.

5 PM: Music Begins

Special Performances And Community Representation

The main Xuluprophet tribute set is the emotional center of the night. This is where the music carries the weight. This is where the room leans into the songs, the memory, the signal, and the love.The night includes Samba Savannah, RM String Band, Dan Berman, Turtle, Joe, Basik Lee, Signature, Dope Knife, Matka, and more helping shape the sound, flow, and atmosphere of the evening.
Dan Berman, Turtle, and Joe represent the FogFest Farm Family. Basik Lee, Signature, and Dope Knife represent the hip-hop community that rocks with Xuluprophet over the years. Samba Savannah brings another part of the rhythm, movement, and living pulse of Savannah into the room.

The Main Tribute

The main Xuluprophet tribute set is the emotional center of the night. This is where the music carries the weight. This is where the room leans into the songs, the memory, the signal, and the love.

Hosted By Rene LaSalle And Shena Verrett

Rene LaSalle and Shena Verrett will host the event and help guide the room through the night with care, respect, and warmth.

Raffle, Art, And The Memory Station

There will be more than 21 raffle prizes from artists, makers, local businesses, tour guides, and community members. The raffle is one of the ways the community is turning grief into practical support for Vanessa.
There will also be a memory station where people can write how they met Oisin, share a story, or leave a message that will be collected for his family.
That part matters to me.
Money helps with the immediate weight, and Vanessa deserves that support. But stories matter too. The family needs to know how far his signal reaches. They need to know about the rooms he fixes, the songs he shapes, the people he encourages, the artists he helps, the strange little moments that only this community remembers. A person like Oisin does not live in one story. He lives in hundreds of them.
I want those stories gathered.
I want his family to be able to hold them.
I want Vanessa to know that Savannah remembers.

Visual Design And Photography

The visual design for the event is created by Alfredo Martinez, longtime Xuluprophet collaborator and friend of the band, using photography from Logan Wells. That feels right. The visual language of this night comes from people close enough to understand what this is, not from some outside machine trying to make grief look marketable.

A sincere and special thank you goes to Victory North for opening their doors, donating the space and resources, and helping give this tribute the home it deserves.
That kind of support matters. It gives the night structure, dignity, and a real place for the community to come together. It also allows more of what gets raised to go where it needs to go.

The campaign phrase for this tribute is The Signal Still Carries.
The visual and memorial concept is OceanMan Returns to the Stars.
I know that sounds mythic, but anybody who knows Oisin knows regular language is never going to be enough. He has too many frequencies running through him. Ireland, Savannah, dub, blues, reggae, electronics, bass, silence, humor, engineering, kindness, stubbornness, weird little sonic rabbit holes, and that OceanMan current moving underneath it all.
I am not going to pretend this night makes the loss clean.
It does not.
But it gives us a place to put some of the love.
It gives Vanessa some support.
It gives the music a room to breathe in.
It lets the people who love him stand together and say, without needing to dress it up too much, that this man matters.
He matters to Xuluprophet.
He matters to Savannah.
He matters to the people he plays with, records, helps, laughs with, challenges, and loves.
He matters to me.
