An Enchanting Evening of Acoustic Musical Magic Xuluprophet Acoustic at The Sentient Bean
An Enchanting Evening of Acoustic Musical Magic Xuluprophet Acoustic at The Sentient BeanJoin us for an enchanting evening of acoustic musical magic and live artistry at the Sentient Bean on Park Ave, just across the street from Forsyth Park, on November 4th, 2023. From 7 to 9 PM, we invite you to immerse yourself in the ethereal sounds of Xuluprophet, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Andrew Hartzell, founder of Samba Savannah and Banda Cocoroco, on percussion. Adding an extra layer of visual artistry to this unique experience, Alexis Javier, renowned artist and founder of Sulfur Studios and Soy X Soy, will be live-painting throughout the performance. Joining Xulu and Andrew will be joined by Dartagnan Cavione Lark, who will be playing with the full band the night before at The Wormhole.
Xulu and Xuluprophet's journey with the Sentient Bean dates back to June 2012 when he began frequenting the café during his earliest days of sobriety. Utilizing the cafe's free wifi, he used the space as a creative incubator for building his businesses and brands. It was during this transformative time that Xulu struck up a friendship with Alexis Javier (AJ). After connecting with Andrew Hartzell, Xulu and his bandmate Oisin Daly had the privilege of playing one of their early gigs with Samba Savannah at Andrew's invitation.
This event is not just a celebration of music and art but also a commemoration of a decade of progress for Xuluprophet and his creative journey. We invite you to be a part of this special evening that brings together a community of artists, musicians, and creative minds.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the night before, when the full Xuluprophet band will take the stage at The Wormhole, ensuring a weekend of unforgettable music and artistry. We can't wait to share this experience with you, where the spirit of collaboration and creativity will flourish under the stars and the Savannah night.
A note from Xulu…
Xuluprophet, where do I even begin? It's an incredible journey that began on the vibrant streets of Savannah, Georgia, and it's a story that carries the heart and soul of the Caribbean, the spirit of reggae, and the wild pulse of funk and rock. Let me take you on a ride through the wild, groovy world of Xuluprophet.
I'm Xulu Jones, a South Bronx native, and I've been on a lifelong musical quest, searching for the perfect blend of rhythm, melody, and lyrics that can resonate with the depths of a human soul. Alongside me, there's Oisin Daly, an Irish-born guitarist and producer, whose fingers dance on the strings like nobody's business. Together, we're the driving force behind this psychedelic funk/reggae/rock sensation called Xuluprophet.
Our journey has been marked by incredible collaborations with a group of talented drummers, including Geoff Snow, Rhett Coleman, Dartagnan Cavione Lark, Phil Taylor, Max Christman, and Spenser Smith. These fine musicians have added their unique flavor to our ever-evolving sound, enriching it with their individual talents and experiences.
What makes Xuluprophet truly special is our dedication to a high-octane, heavy Caribbean-flavored groove. We've taken the essence of reggae, the free spirit of rock, and the infectious funk, and woven them into our music. It's a fusion that sets the stage on fire, gets the crowd moving, and elevates our performances to a whole new level.
Sharing the stage with legendary acts like The Wailers, Consider the Source, King Yellowman, and Here Come The Mummies has been nothing short of a dream come true for us. We've also had the privilege of jamming with HR from Human Rights, Yellowman, Tropadelic, Lullwater, Van Gordon Martin, Mobley,, Passafire, The Expendables, and Bumpin’ Uglies. This, to me, is an affirmation of the magic we've created. It's surreal considering that Oisin and I first met while busking on River Street back in 2013.
Xuluprophet is more than just a band; it's a testament to the power of music to transcend boundaries, cultures, and genres. We're not just making music; we're telling a story, sharing an experience, and inviting everyone to join the groove. It's been an incredible journey, and I can't wait to see where the future takes us. As we continue to ride this psychedelic wave of funk, reggae, and rock, our music will keep touching hearts and moving feet, one song at a time.
